Alkaline button batteries

LR button cells are 1.5 V alkaline primary cells. Common AG and maker aliases resolve to canonical LR families.

Naming

LR44/A76/AG13 and LR54/AG10/LR1130 illustrate how several package markings can identify one alkaline family.

Substitution risk

Same-size SR products use silver oxide at a different nominal voltage and profile. Battery Codebook labels those relationships conditional.

The supported LR size ladder

The current alkaline set runs from LR626 at 6.8 × 2.6 mm through LR41 at 7.9 × 3.6 mm and the 11.6 mm LR54, LR43 and LR44 families at increasing heights. Sorting by both dimensions exposes near-matches without claiming they are substitutes.

Common AG labels are aliases only when the source maps them: AG4 to LR626, AG3 to LR41, AG10 to LR54, AG12 to LR43 and AG13 to LR44.

Choose from a device requirement, not an AG number alone

Resolve the printed alias, open the canonical record and then inspect any same-size SR alternative as a separate relationship. Silver oxide may offer different discharge behaviour, but “better” is not a compatibility rule.

All records here are primary cells. Do not recharge them, mix old and new cells, or modify a compartment to accept a near-size.

Evidence used for this hub

Aliases and family groupings are independently compiled from the Energizer cross-reference route, while same-size silver-oxide dimensions and W/SW distinctions are checked against Murata watch-battery material. The presentation and diagrams are original.
